Revitalising Sunderland Civic Centre with Countryside Partnerships North East

Humphrey M&E Consultants are delighted to continue our successful relationship with Countryside Partnerships North East (Formerly Vistry Partnerships) on Phase 2 of the Civic Centre Regeneration in Sunderland City Centre. This development is part of a wider plan to construct 7,000 new homes across the city by 2030.

Following demolition of the iconic 1960s Civic Centre building, the flagship project will comprise the construction of 265 new homes including 4No. new residential blocks.

Humphrey M&E Consultants have already completed the M&E design of Residential Block D which is currently under construction as part of Phase 1.

We will be utilising the same forward-thinking engineering principles for the new residential buildings in Phase 2. These will include energy-efficient air source heat pump-based hot water generation, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, and high efficiency lighting.

Full sprinkler coverage and natural smoke ventilation will also feature in response to a Specialist’s Fire Safety Strategy.

Our close collaboration with the rest of the great design team includes liaison with an external SAP and energy assessor to ensure full Building Regulation compliance to meet the latest stringent carbon emission targets.
